About Me

Hi everyone! I’m Amanda and welcome! Eats, Love and Happiness is where I blog about my life in the DC suburbs with my boys. Right now we’re in the works of planning a wedding and going back to school!

I hope you love it here as much as I love the little one below. (No she’s not really mine, but sometimes I pretend she is. Meet Reid, my cousin/mini-me.)

If you want the quick version of my bio, I’m a twenty-something bride-to-be, chef in training and puppy mom who loves food, my friends and my family more than anything. I also love to try to maintain a healthy, happy and balanced life.

I grew up in Lake Placid, New York, home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics – not to be confused with the Lake Placid that’s home to a massive alligator. After graduating from high school I attended the University of New Hampshire. Go Wildcats!

Graduation Day. Go Wildcats!

Since I graduated in 2006, I lived in Orlando for a year until my fiancee’s job brought us to Washington D.C. We chose this unique and incredible city because it was a driving distance to home and a bearable city for us “mountain folks” to live in. We lived in the city for two years before buying our first home in April 2010 in Montgomery County, Maryland.

We did a lot of really cool things while living in Florida – including taking flight lessons…

After buying our house we continued to rock 2010 and adopted this little guy. Meet Reddick!

Almost as if the year couldn’t get any better, MJW popped the question on Christmas Eve! We have been together for almost seven years and can’t wait to start planning and have the wedding of our dreams.

2011 is not only the year of wedding planning, but the year of changes. I recently decided to leave my job in promotional marketing and go back to school. I’ll be attending L’Academie de Cuisine this summer and could not be more excited. I am participating in the Culinary Arts Program.
If you read my previous About Me page I talked a lot about how I was trying to find my place in the world and get to that level of extreme happiness…well, I’m there! I could not be more excited to continue my life with MJW, laugh at my dog 24/7 and embark on this incredible journey with my new career.
