For those of you who are still sticking around through my crazy summer - thank you! I know that my posting has been spontaneous and crazy and I'm really thankful for you for hanging around. I promise, once this is all over, I'll be back to a normal, steady schedule.
I know that we have all read about how to make our blog successful, gain readership and page views. I am proof that everything that you read is true.
You will lose readers if...
...you don't post regularly.
...you are inconsistent with your posts.
...you are not regularly posting other random things on Twitter and Facebook.
...you don't have more than a few hours on the computer every day.
...you blog about cream, butter and salt. (Kidding, kind of...)
...you shift your blog topic and style.
I'm sure there are other reasons why readership might go down, but these are the ones that seem to be fitting my blog to a T. Of course no one is never happy when their readership goes down, but I also completely understand. Only the important folks are sticking around anyways...
I have said before that there are a few things that I do believe make a huge difference when you are trying to increase your readership and/or page views. For example...
...commenting on other people's blogs.
...sharing your links on Facebook and Twitter.
...responding to comments on your own blog.
...and of course, the opposite of everything I said above.
In relation to what I said last week about not going to the Healthy Living Summit I can kind of sense some of my healthy living bloggers fading away from my blog. I'm not longer blogging about daily meals, workouts and food that should be found in a healthy pantry. That's totally fine with me, I understand. It actually opens a new door to a new community that I am hoping to move towards - food bloggers. It makes more sense for me anyways, right? So because of that, I've been spending a lot more time on Foodbuzz and paying attention to food-specific blogs. I think that it's really paid off! I've found some really great bloggers that are even in the DC area who responded immediately to tweets and/or blog comments.
I think it's really important not to invest your time in just one blogging community. You might always strive to live a healthy life and stay in shape, but sooner or later other interests might pop up and you could be missing out on an awesome group of bloggers. People are always looking for new blogs to read and it never hurts to put yourself out there.
With that said, I have a pretty cool announcement and a question for you all...I'm going to Foodbuzz and who is going with me??

I registered the other day and my flight has actually been booked for months. I had a free flight that I had to book so I crossed my fingers and booked it back in March. I'd love to know who is going and who I am going to meet out there! Right now, I think I'm heading out late Friday night and leaving Sunday night, unless something else comes up. Let me know if you're going!
